A note on the stories
Did this really happen?
You're bound to wonder that along the way. There's a boat in this book big enough for every animal on earth. A bush that burns and never burns up. A fish that swallows a man and spits him back out three days later. And near the end, a tomb that turns out to be empty one morning.
I'm not going to tell you what to make of it.
Some people believe it happened exactly as written. Other people read it as an image: a way of telling something ordinary words fall short of. People have been discussing this for thousands of years, very clever and very kind people on both sides. They've never settled it.
A note on the stories
You don't have to settle it now either
You'll notice that simply takes part in these stories. He talks, he asks things, he gets angry and he changes his mind. That's just how it's written, and that's how I'm passing it on.
That doesn't mean I'm saying that's how it is. It means I'm not going to rebuild the story.
What's true in it is yours to figure out. You may take your whole life over it.
